Cairo, November 23, 2017 – Credit Agricole Egypt has taken part in the “Sustainable City Business Forum” held in marge of the French-Egyptian Week for Sustainable Cities organized by the French Embassy in Cairo. The forum is held in the presence of the Presidential Advisor for National and Strategic Projects – Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy – Eng. The main purpose of this forum is to offer French and Egyptian companies the chance to bring innovative sustainable urban development solutions in Egypt. Credit Agricole Egypt was proud to share the success story of its Head Office, ranked top smart green building in Egypt and achieving the best-in-class energy efficiency and operation rates, hence, receiving the first LEED Platinum Certificate in Egypt and North Africa.

Mr. Pierre Finas – Managing Director of Credit Agricole Egypt has shared the eco-friendly vision and strategy of the bank, saying: “Credit Agricole Egypt adopts an eco-friendly strategy, which is clearly demonstrated through the bank’s Head Office, which is considered the reference for smart buildings in terms of energy efficiency. The Head Office is designed and managed to provide the maximum comfort to its staff through advanced smart energy management systems. This year we celebrated the inauguration of the largest solar station owned by a bank in Egypt, contributing with 7% to the building’s annual energy consumption.”

He highlighted that this strategy stems from Credit Agricole Group’s leading eco-friendly vision and social responsibility guidelines in the field of protecting the environment and supporting Egypt’s national energy consumption and renewable energy initiatives.

Earlier this year, Credit Agricole Egypt has installed a photovoltaic (PV) power station on the roof of its Head Office building in the 5th Settlement. With a capacity of 201.135 kw, the station contributes with 7% to the building annual energy consumption. This is part of Crédit Agricole Egypt’s objectives to rationalize energy consumption, reduce carbon footprints by replacing them with clean energy. In addition, Crédit Agricole Egypt has successfully obtained the Platinum LEED Certificate for its Head Office in 2016. The certificate is the most influential evaluation of various environmental, green building and sustainability standards in the world. CAE Head Office was qualified for this certificate by depending on rationalized power consumption and water resources, while providing maximum comfort to its staff. It includes a modern setup branch, and various facilities which optimize the co-working environment, including a restaurant, cafeteria, gym, training and meeting rooms, and an auditorium with a 300 person capacity.
