Imbaba El Matar project

Unfortunately Egypt has a lot of neglected and abandoned areas where people actually live in an inhuman and unhealthy environment, among which there is Imbaba EL Matar as a live example. Crédit Agricole took this area as a start and worked on this project on three parallel development paths that was started by end of 2012 to 2015:

Health

Crédit Agricole has worked on upgrading of community clinics and equipping it with the latest equipment to offer a decent health service to the people in need living there. The clinics completed with the latest instruments and equipment. It also established an ophthalmic clinic, a dental clinic, and two medical convoys that serve more than 400 patients for free. In addition to an eye operation room that served around 1000 patients.

Education

A local school in the area had a complete renovation where their classrooms upgraded to offer a healthy and clean atmosphere for the students. Crédit Agricole has also funded literacy classes for the adults in the same area:
  • Moustaf Kamel school was completely renovated with 2 big buildings including class renovations and washrooms
  • 25 literacy classes that provided primary education to 375 adult students per year  and were eligible to be transferred to preparatory stage

Environment

with the aim to rebuild the area with a more humane atmosphere to its people, Crédit Agricole worked on cleaning up of garbage and planting of trees for a clean air, which resulted  in the removal of 1,500 tons of garbage from the slums.
